What is yoga?
In the West, we've come to know yoga mostly as a set of physical postures that challenge our strength, focus and flexibility. These physical postures are called āsanas.
The yogic way of life finds it origin in India. Yoga is Sanskrit for 'union' and the goal of yoga is to control the mind so that we can unite with a calm state of contentment and joy (samadhi). Regular yoga practice has a beneficial effect on your body as well as your emotional state.
For some, yoga classes will remain a nice way to excersize and experience relaxation. For others, it might feel like an invitation to incorporate more and more elements of yoga in your daily life.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Over the years, the teachings of the physical postures or āsanas have been brought to it's students by different Indian or Western yogic teachers. This ensured the vast amount of yogic styles that we know today, such as vinyasa flow yoga, hatha yoga, ashtanga yoga, kundalini yoga, Iyengar yoga, power yoga, yin yoga, etc.
Vinyasa means to move with the breath and can be classified as a dynamic type of yoga that has some overlap with ashtanga yoga, but is less rigid in nature. Vinyasa flow yoga is a playful and creative type of yoga that can be recognized by it's well built up classes that go from relaxation to exertion to relaxation.

Paul, 26"I took a Yoga class from lovely Yolanda at a meditation retreat in Germany. It was a good, basic class, where Yolanda taught the very beginnings of the physical Yoga practice in a sober minded and accurate way. It was a pleasure to take part in this class and get a refreshment of the very basics. Yolanda is sharing her deep insights of Yoga in a calm, open hearted way!"
